An excellent resource to check understanding of basic the fractions Half, Quarter and Third. The resource is best used after students have been learning about and working with each of the three fractions. This is a hands-on cut and paste activity where junior students can practice and demonstrate their understanding of these three fractions. A Halloween themed hands on activity for 1st and 2nd grade students. Students work with the concept of a half and a quarter and cut and paste representations of each. This resource includes; Teacher instructions, 2 recording sheets, images to cut into fractions, answer sheet examples. Great for follow-up work, consolidation, revision and discussion about simple fractions. The completed work can also make excellent wall displays of student learning and understanding.

This is a resource to introduce young students to the world of coding. Coding is an essential skill in the digital curriculum for 21st Century learners. Coding is the ability to create instructions that allow a set of actions to be carried out. This resource gives an opportunity to expose pre-school (and early elementary) students to the world of coding with the format used in the user friendly coding app Scratch Jr. The resource doesn’t require a device or access to the internet. Students can cut and past the missing pieces of code into a blank box sequence to achieve the desired outcome on the worksheet. There are two ways this resource can be used; As a cut and paste worksheet. There are 5 different Halloween themed coding worksheets, with answers. As a reusable independent learning centre activity. There are 5 activity cards and a set of ‘coding blocks’ to cut out and laminate. These can all be kept in a tray or container and the students can then take the activity and work with it. A brilliant resource for supporting, consolidating and assessing students’ understanding of halves and quarters. Students place and glue half and quarter shapes to fill whole shapes on a recording sheet. In this resource are two recording sheets (one with guidelines and one without) and 4 sheets of cut out shapes. These 4 offer different levels of difficulty from simple halves only, to mixed sheets of halves and quarters, and finally a sheet of quarters only.

An activity sheet that combines the maths concepts of position and direction within a New Zealand ANZAC unit study (with a focus on World War 2 battles). Students work on locating New Zealand battle locations in World War 2 using longitude and latitude. Students will require access to an atlas or (more preferably) an online map app, such as Google Maps. Students are provided with the recording sheet and an information card that contains information on four battles New Zealand was involved in, the dates of the battles and the country. Please note - they are not in order on the card! Using the information cards and the coordinates on the recording sheet students then work out which battle took place in which country and when. Includes; recording sheet, information cards, teacher instructions and answer sheet.

This Halloween themed resource gives an opportunity to expose junior students to the world of coding using the user friendly coding app Scratch Jr. Coding is an essential skill in the digital curriculum for 21st Century learners. Students can cut and past the missing pieces of code into a command to achieve the desired outcome on the worksheet. The focus of this activity is being able to work out the correct right hand turn at the correct point. The extra challenge with this activity is that there is an extra superfluous block. The students need to decide which block is not needed to complete the code. The resource has 2 activity sheets (2 levels of difficulty with the same task), answer sheet and teacher notes.

2 Digit Addition and Subtraction regrouping and no regrouping Worksheets. An excellent math center activity to allow your students practice and maintenance adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers. The challenge here is working out the digits under the splotches to make the equation correct. When I printed these off at home to proof-read before I knew it my own children were sitting at the kitchen table working them out. Practice, maintenance and mastery of adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers will allow for a smoother transition to 3 digit addition and subtraction.
